Duha store

Welcome to the Duha Store! Support our clients’ success in starting and/or expanding their businesses. Each of our clients are at a different stage – click on “Read More” below each client’s name to read about their story and to see where they are at on their journey. The items for each client are regularly updated and represent the most critical gaps at this point in their journey. 100% of the amount goes directly to the client for the stated need. The best part is that you have the option at checkout to be contacted to receive personalized updates on the impact of your purchase so you have confidence on where your money goes.

We take our responsibility to be transparent and accountable for every dollar contributed very seriously. If there are no more items remaining for a client, this means their current needs have been fulfilled. We will only update the store with items for a need that our team in Niger has vetted and verified. In line with our values of being 100% transparent, if you purchase something that for some unforeseen reason is no longer needed (e.g., the client is no longer with Duha or the item is no longer needed), we will contact you to refund the amount. Be sure to join our mailing list so you can be the first to know about any new needs of our clients!

Duha Clients

Lydia

Lydia is a widow and mother to three children. She is eager to grow her business so that she can establish financial independence and have a place of her own with her children. She started her small business in December 2022 selling rice with fish and sauce. She would love to expand her business to also offer her customers ice-cold water. Her most urgent priority is to purchase a cooler and also a cart to help her transport the ice, water, cooler and other food items to the area she sells.

Zouera

Zouera is one of Duha’s newest client. She is eager to start her own business to sell local couscous with moringa leaves and corn flour. At the end of last year, her husband fell sick with dementia and went missing. As he was the main breadwinner of the family, she needs this business to support her and her five children. She plans to start her business immediately.

Tahiya

Tahiya started her business with Duha’s support in September 2020. Previously, she had attempted to start a business on her own but failed. Tahiya was able to overcome her self-doubt with the support of Duha and today, over one year later, she is still a proud small business owner selling hijabs and socks. She initially started a business with the intention to supplement the income of her husband to support their 8 children. As he has recently fell ill since the end of 2021, the family is relying solely on Tahiya’s income to support the family until her husband fully recovers. Tahiya plans to expand her business to sell Nigerien wax fabrics. Read more about Tahiya’s story here.

Ramatou is an aspiring young business owner. Unable to finish her schooling due to the inability of her family to pay for her school fees, Ramatou decided to see this period as an opportunity to gain new skills and to facilitate her independence. Her dream is to become a skilled seamstress so that she can open up her own sewing workshop and teach other young women in the future.

Germaine

Germaine is one of Duha’s newest clients. She used to have a small business in selling flour but when her husband fell ill, she gave up her business to focus on taking care of him. As he has passed away now, she is motivated to restart her business as she needs to take care of her six children as a widower now.
